San Polo, Rialto Market, Rialto Bridge, the red light district of the Venetian Republic
The core of Venice's life and trade has always been the "Rivus Altus", that is Rialto with the market and the trading area. During our walk, we will see Ponte di Rialto, the first bridge built in the lagoon city; the asymmetrical calli (narrow alleys) and campielli (Venetian squares) where one can still feel the true Venetian atmosphere, we will learn about the importance of commerce in the city and the places dedicated for it, such as Campo San Giacomo Apostolo, the market, and Canal Grande.
We will visit the old red light district of Venice and listen to interesting stories. . . . . a charming aspect of the city.
