New York City, where Rock & Roll came of age!
All the greats worked and played here in NYC. Times Square was the site of major venues like the Paramount where Elvis' first movie "Love Me Tender" premiered in 1956 and where the Beatles played in 1964. Times Square was also home to music publishers and many acts signed their contracts in the Brill Building (featured in the HBO series "Vinyl"). In the early sixties, Greenwich Village was the home of folk music and Joni Mitchell, Janice Joplin, James Taylor, the Mamas & the Papas, Simon & Garfunkel and of course, Bob Dylan all got their start there. John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived in Greenwich Village and that's where Jimi Hendrix built his Electric Lady Studio. And NYC's East Village was home to Punk Rock in the 1970s & 80s. The Ramones, Patti Smith, Talking Heads and Blondie are among the many great punk/new wave bands who got found fame here! Disclaimer; If I must travel to you anywhere outside of Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn, that travel time will count against tour time. Please contact before you book!
We start in Times Square, NYC's center of music publishing and promotion. We'll continue down to Greenwich Village where John & Yoko first lived in NYC. We'll see one of the last remaining record stores and Bob Dylan's first NY address. We'll go on to the East Village which was the spawning ground for Punk Rock in NYC. There will be lots more in between the major sights!

We had such a great time with Matthew! We learned and saw so much more than we expected. The ipad was a nice touch as it really put things into perspective. He was energetic, funny, engaging, and knowledgeable and we didn't just learn about rock & roll but also many other interesting facts about the village and New York in general. Next time we are back, we'll definitely connect with Matthew and we've already been referring him to anyone visiting NYC in the future. Thanks Matt!
