A unique combination of sightseeing and hiking
Some sights can only be seen by car and some are best seen on foot so this tour aims to combine both into a superb day out. Short hikes are tailored to your requirements on the day and will be in the company of myself or where feasible short linear walks where I drop you at the start and pick you up at the end - the way is clear and I've never lost anyone yet!
On this tour you will see more of the area than if you hiked all day and experience more than if you drove all day. If you have only one day and enjoy the outdoors then this is a great tour to appreciate the magnificent landscape of the Lake District National Park.
The exact itinerary and hiking options are dependent on the location of your hotel. A selection of hikes that can be built into a day may include a gentle riverside walk from Skelwith Bridge to Elterwater, a stunning traverse above Grasmere on Loughrigg Terrace with optional extension alongside Grasmere, the ascent of Latrigg above Keswick for superb aerial views over Borrowdale and Derwentwater, a lovely walk alongside Buttermere or into the hidden valley of Rannerdale amongst the bluebells. If it has been raining there are some awesome waterfalls to be seen on short walks from the road.
On the sightseeing part of the day in addition to the splendid scenery highlights could include Grasmere village and gingerbread, Castlerigg stone circle, Honister slate mine and the market town of Keswick.
The balance between time spent hiking and touring can be discussed on the day to ensure it is right for you.

Andrew was a very knowledgeable tour guide. The hikes and stops were well chosen to show us the best of the Lake District, and well tailored to the needs of our family.
