Riding across the bay in a single day
In the bay of Naples, there are two more major islands, besides the famous Capri: the "green island" of Ischia, and the small "virgin" island of Procida. Two volcanic islands, quite close each other, and so visible in a single day. Ischia is where the first Greeks explorers settle down for the first time in Southern Italy, in its archeological museum there are interesting findings, one above all the famous "Nestore's Cup". Procida is not touristy and still preserves its calm atmosphere, the highlights are the fortified citadel "Terra Murata", the "giraffa houses" and its picturesque and colorful ports.

We didn't take this particular tour as originally planned. However, after learning of our interest in archeology on our tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum with her, Valentina convinced three of us to take an easy hike on the Solfatara volcano and explore various sites in Pozzuoli. She was absolutely right and we delighted in her enthusiasm for her current home "town." If you'd like to see an area with few tourists and learn in-depth about early well-preserved Roman and Greek sites, don't pass on this
