Walking tour in Naples' historical centre
Walking through Naples' historical centre, we jump back to the 5th century B. C, its scattering of ancient ruins stretching back more than two millennia to Naples' Greek origins. To this day, the neighbourhood's grid echoes its original Graeco-Roman layout, made up of small alleys, decumani and cardinali, which regularly run parallel and perpendicular to each other.
The 'decumano inferiore', nicknamed 'Spaccanapoli' (Split Naples) is one of the historic centre's main thoroughfares. Strolling down it is highly evocative, especially when the midday sun bathes its entire length. More than just a street, Spaccanapoli and its surrounds are a treasure trove of art, architecture, traditions and folklore.
Along the 'decumano maggiore', one can explore the Basilica of San Lorenzo and its buried archeological ruins, which included remnants of the ancient Roman forum.
Our day and the time we start the tour is flexible and is meant to accommodate your schedule and interests.
