Forest and desert, condors and cactus, colonial town
After crossing a short forest area, the lanscape will suddenly become drier at "Quebrada de Escoipe". We will climb the steep "Cuesta del Obispo" until the highest point "Piedra del Molino", at 3456m. This will be already inside "Los Cardones National Park", wich protects a special variety of cactus. Then we will drive downhill towards the Calchaquí valley, where the colonial town of Cachi is. After lunch we will come back to Salta taking the side road of "Los Colorados", a magnificent area, formed by red sandstones.
IMPORTANT! All the tours can be combined with the others or tailor made if you have special requests.
After leaving the Lerma Valley, with its tobacco plantations we will cross a short area of rain forest.
Then, the mountains will start becoming drier while we follow the canyon called "Quebrada de Escoipe". The cactus will start showing up, and at the place called "El Maray" we will start climbing the step road known as "Cuesta del Obispo", where it is usual to see condors flying. Later we will reach the highest point (3457m) at "Piedra del Molino".
We will be already inside "Los Cardones National Park", wich means "cactus", and we will see lots of them in the Tin Tin area. From here we will go down into the Calchaquí Valley, where the colonial town of Cachi is.
After the visit of the town and having lunch we will continue along the mythic 40 road south near Seclantás, to join a secondary road, the way to "Los Colorados", some beautiful red mountains that will take us back to Tin Tin, on our road back to Salta.
