Visit Golden Pavilion and Bamboo forest of Arashiyama

Kinkakuji temple
Here is one of the most photogenic for the Golden Pavilion with its reflection in the pond.
The pavilion consists of three different types of architecture.

Arashiyama
Tenryuji temple (Optional)
It was built by the grandfather of the founder of the golden pavilion to pray for peace.
Its UNESCO World Heritage garden is one of the most famous Japanese gardens.

Bamboo forest
Arashiyama is the place where not only we can enjoy the feeling of the history but also we can enjoy nature.
Bamboo forest is one of the popular sightseeing spots and the heart of Japan.

Lunch at hidden gem (Only in case there is availability for us)
Since Arashiyama is always bustling with many tourists, making a reservation for the lunch is recommendable.
Following is my recommendable restaurants in Arashiyama
Shoraian famous for its Kaiseki lunch (Need to make reservation in advance)
Daizen famous for Bamboo leaves Sushi.

Monkey Park(Optional)
It is an enjoyable place to interact with monkeys at a close distance.

A Recent Review of this tour

Koichi was just great. His knowledge of the many temples and shrines, customs and anecdotes were what you would hope for in a guide. Occasionally during the tour Koichi would pull out a folder of graphs or pictures explaining his points. For lunch, he took us to a pot sticker and ramen shop he has been going to since a high schooler. Not another foreigner in sight. Highly recommended.
