Cave magic and thermal wonders of New Zealand in one day with your personal guide
This day tour includes about 7 hours of driving. First leg to Waitomo about 3 hours followed by a 45 minutes tour of the caves and the other leg to Rotorua is about 2 hours. Rotorua - Auckland driving time is about 3. 5 hours. Despite the amount of driving the tour is worth it. You would not believe your eyes when you see what they call a "cave milky way" when you travel on the cave river under thousands and thousands of glowworms over you covering the cave roof. This is something that not many people have seen in their lives. After the magic cruise we continue to the "most thermal" and the most "Maori" area of New Zealand, a town of Rotorua. Visit a Maori Institute of culture and see with your own eyes how traditional carvings and weavings are made. The highlight of the tour would be the highest erupting geyser of the Southern hemisphere. Pahutu geyser goes up to 25 metres (close to 80 feet). Views, stories and jokes as usual. . . oh, there will be a chance to see a kiwi bird. Seems to be all now. . .
I collect you from your accommodation in Auckland CBD at 7AM. Cave tour is at 10AM. Leaving Waitomo around 11 AM and drive for 2 hours to Rotorua. Lunch from 1 to 2PM in Rotorua. After lunch drive around Rotorua (sightseeing) for about 1 hour and then visit Te Puia Park (plan from 1 to 1. 5 hours in the park) Last admission to the park is at 4PM in winter and at 5PM in summer.

WOW!! What a wonderful 2 days. The caves were awesome, the geyser park beautiful and unique and Rotorua a lovely place to stay overnight. Hobbiton was just awesome. The days just flew by. Dmitry has a wealth of knowledge about wherever we went which was great. He went the extra mile to organise a wheel chair at the caves and a golf cart at Hobbiton so I didn't miss out despite my limited mobility. I cannot rate Dimitry and the tour highly enough. I would give it six stars if I could!
