A Day in Real Life Bucharest
Are you curious to see what's beyond the 'must-see'/'best of' tours of Bucharest?
Eager to explore Bucharest as it is?
Then you've come to the right place!
Let's explore the city in depth and see it through the eyes of a local. That's me - Silvana, a licensed tour guide born and raised in Bucharest. I will be your host on this 'off the path' tour of Romania's most important city.
While reading through the itinerary please keep in mind 3 things:
1. this tour can and will be further tailored to suit your particular interests and style
2. you will set the pace of the tour so as to best enjoy it
3. on my tours there's a very strict 'all you can ask' policy :)
We'll start by exploring Bucharest's oldest part - the city center, where most of the famous monuments are.
Then we will take a bus or the metro to one of the so-called dormitory neighborhoods. There's a wide variety to choose from - no slum tourism, though - and plenty to see and discuss once we get there. I will gladly walk & talk you through the neighborhood's streets and particular architecture, or we can visit the local park and discuss Romania's social past and present while sunbathing. I can also take you to a lowbrow neighborhood cafe where we can mingle with the locals.
We can then continue our urban exploration by going to the posh side of the city and examine "the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie". We might even visit a gorgeous Romanian modern art collection if you feel like it.
Of course we will stop for lunch and we can also take our coffee and dessert in one of the best spots in town.
Then I can either lead you to your hotel or recommend a nice place for you to continue your evening.

We had a wonderful day, and couldn't have asked for a better guide. She was very flexible, shared some really interesting information on the city, and gave us lots of tips to enjoy the rest of our time. Thank you so much!
