Tenerife, land of exquisite wines and bananas
This private excursion takes us deep into the scenic north of Tenerife where we will visit one the island's vineyards to sample exquisite wines. If available on the day we may be able to see some of the wine production process. As an alternative, if the vineyard is closed because work is in process or if it is a weekend or holiday, we can sample an excellent choice of wines at the Malmsey wine museum in Icod. Shakespeare often mentioned Canary wines in his plays, and early European merchants came to purchase Tenerife's wines in the 16th and 17th centuries.
We also visit a banana plantation on the tongue of a volcanic lava flow which nestles by the sea under steep cliffs. We will have a chance to learn about banana growing and enjoy scenery which is simply beautiful. The original mansion on the estate is a delight. It is one of the hidden aristocratic treasures of old Tenerife and, if it is open, we can enjoy strolling through its vast, palmed patio. If we have time you might like a tapas lunch nearby.
I will collect you from the port or hotel at 9am. Our tour takes us straight towards the northwest of the island. Depending on the time of year we shall either visit a banana plantation first or go to a vineyard or the wine museum to sample some delicious wines. If you like we can enjoy some delicious Canary cuisine before returning you to the port or hotel at approximately 3pm.

I am not a mountaineer so would not be able to take clients mountain climbing, for example up the slopes of Mount Teide, but I can, of course, take you on the cable car and walking along the many mountain and coastal tracks in Tenerife.

We had two spectacular tours with John on Tenerife. He is charming, fun and incredibly knowledgeable. We saw much more than we ever expected to see, sampled local food and wine, and learned a great deal. I wish there was a rating higher than five stars.
