Visit River valleys, Waterfalls, Nature walks with a private guide
Travel through the lush, fertile Derwent Valley past cherry orchards, hop fields and wineries and on to Mt. Field - the oldest National Park in Australia with a Visitors and Interpretive Centre and options for morning tea or snack. There is a gentle walk to the famous Russell Falls, or through the Tall Trees Walk. We often see local wildlife and sometimes even the elusive platypus.
On the return there will be a stop at the 'Possum Shed', a lovely little riverside café for a light lunch, coffee or afternoon tea. There are other optional stops at a country flea market or the Salmon Ponds (entry fee extra) where you can visit the beautiful old English gardens and feed the local trout.
We return to Hobart via the other side of the Derwent River and its beautiful vistas and verdant fields and farms.
Depart Hobart and travel through the Derwent Valley through the town of New Norfolk. Travel along the Derwent River to Mt Field National Park and the walk to Russell Falls and a choice of other nature walks. Lunch/afternoon tea will be at the riverside Possum Shed Cafe or at The Salmon Ponds with its beautiful gardens and trout museum. Travel back to Hobart via lush valleys and pastoral scenery along the Derwent River.
