Brazilian Jewish history

During this visit you will learn how our community helped building the country since the period of Brazil as a colony. Most of all the arrival of hundreds of young jews in our main ports looking for a new start. A walk in the city centre of Rio will also show different periods of Brazilian history influenced by other cultures.
During our tour you'll see some of the beach menorahs and some of Rio's important buildings for the city's cultural life such as our recently restored Opera house and part of our colonial buidlings, the Old Temple and a small Jewish museum.
Another must do during the day is a stop for a coffee/tea at the most traditional tea house of Rio over a hundred years old. A visit to one of Rio's active synagogue can also be provided, *subjected to pre reservation and time of the year.

There are a few ways to direct this tour. The Old Temple that is a must see during Jewish tours, is located in the old section of Rio. Therefore this can be part of a historic visit.
*Rio does not offer kosher restaurants but we certainly have many delis for snacks and to go.

The whole visit is described on tour page!
