Private walking tour of Naples to discover its life, monuments, people and food
This walking tour allows you to discover Naples directly on foot from your hotel if centrally located or from the cruise terminal. Naples is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was founded by the Greeks in the 7Th Century B. C. It was ruled by many different nations - Byzantine, Longboard, Norman, Swabian, Angevin, Aragonese, Spanish, Austrian, Borbonic and French all of which left an indelible sign of their presence not only in the buildings and monuments of the city but also in the customs, traditions and way of life of the Neapolitans. The history of Naples is perfectly legible in its urban structure, which maintains the signs of a city built slowly over a period of 25 centuries: this is the reason why the town is listed amongst the World Cultural Heritage Sites listed By the United Nations.
We will walk directly to the old town. This is about 15 minutes away from the Port. If you are in a centrally located hotel in Town we can probably simply walk or we can take a cab. If you come by train we can also simply start walking.
Walking down the area called Spaccanapoli you find the real town: its people, the students, the food (the best pizzerias and pastry shop), the craftsmanship. Not to miss is the area of San Gregorio where you have an incredible display of items produced to decorate the Nativity during Christmas Time.
We shall also reach the Cathedral to visit the jewel of baroque decoration: the Chapel of San Gennaro, worldwide known also because the saint liquefies its blood twice per year!!
If you are foodies we shall not miss an opportunity for a delicious sfogliatella pastry or for a freshly baked traditional pizza. What a temptation!
At any case the tour is flexible depending on your interests.
