The Philosophers Walk is a heavily photographed pedestrian path located in Kyoto. This pedestrian path is lined with cherry trees and located along the side of a canal that runs between Nanzenji and Ginkakuji, which are main destinations of this tour. The path's name is said to have been named after Nishida Kitaro, who was a philosopher at Kyoto University. It was said that he would walk along this path every day for guided meditation. This would be a fitting area for meditation as it passes by many temples and shrines, which you can visit as optional tours. It is an excellent attraction to enjoy in Kyoto especially if you're looking for some peace and quiet. Through early April when the trees are in blossom you can get one of the most beautiful views of the Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in the whole of the city, and in other seasons you can enjoy tranquility.
Nanzenji's central temple grounds are open to the public free of charge, but separate fees apply for Sanmon or a huge gate(500JPY), Hojo Japanese garden(500JPY) and subtemples (Nanzenin300JPY, Konchiin400JPY). You don't need to visit all.
1. 7km(1. 056miles) stone paved path.
If you're willing to climb up a hill, you can visit it as optional and enjoy phytoncide.
Ginkakuji Temple (500JPY)
It consists of the Silver Pavilion, half a dozen other temple buildings, a beautiful moss garden and a unique dry sand garden.

Yoshiro guided us our first day in Kyoto and gave us a wonderful orientation of the city which helped us on the rest of our days there. His English is excellent. He is extremely organized. We thoroughly enjoyed his tours of temples, selection of a noodle shop for lunch and strolling through gardens. My group of four couldn't have been happier.
