Full-Day Volubilis, Molay Idriss and Meknes Tour
The Journey starts from your hotel as we will drive west through a scenic route with opportunities for taking pictures of the Oulad Shaker reservoir and the surrounding rolling countryside dotted with wheat fields, olive groves, fruit trees, and vineyards.
Your first stop will be the ruined Roman city of Volubilis. French archaeologists began excavating Volubilis in the early 20th century, though half of the immense sight still remains beneath centuries of topsoil. Marvel at the famous sights, like the basilica, the triumphal arc, and the many palaces with their exquisite mosaics. The tour of Volubilis will be provided with a local expert guide.
Next you will make a quick stop in the adjacent small town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. This town houses the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss I (745-791), the first Arab king of Morocco.
Last stop will be the imperial city of Meknes. Visit Moulay Ismail's massive stables, cavernous underground prison, Moulay Ismail's mausoleum and the Mansour Majestic Gate.

We had a wonderful day with Said and his driver at various sites near Fes. Certainly, for us, the highlight was the Roman city of Volubilis, once the capital of Roman North Africa. it is in a beautiful location with impressive ruins and mosaics. We also visited the cities of Moulay Idris, high on a hill, with a bustling market, and Meknez, also with interesting things to see. Said is knowledgeable, well organized, and a pleasure to travel with.
