A day to discover the closest vineyard from Lyon

If you come to Lyon more than one day you can't miss the Beaujolais, also known as "the french tuscany", for its rolling hills, vineyards and small estates. Indeed, you'll be in a little piece of Tuscany in France !

The Beaujolais is famous for the wine "Beaujolais Nouveau" but did you know there are also 12 different excellent wines produced there. . . ? The best "crus" are for example Moulin-à-Vent, Chiroubles, Morgon. . .
Let's go and taste it, let's meet the winegrowers in their estates !

And this area has a remarkable scenic route along which are beautiful and picturesque small villages, such as the medieval village Oingt.

So during this tour, we will combine the wine tasting with discoveries of the heritage and panoramas. . . a precious day out of Lyon !

Itinerary

We will start with a coach-tour throught the "little Tuscany" or "Golden stones area", and we will stop in Oingt, a very picturesque town listed as "most beautiful village of France".

Then we will go to meet a passionate winegrower, and learn how wine is made, and how to taste it.

Then it is possible to have lunch in this area (at the winegrower's estate, or in a restaurant).

The afternoon you will discover the northern part of the Beaujolais :
We will stop in Salles-Arbuissonnas to discover a treasure of Romanesque architecture (cloister), then another stop in Vaux en Beaujolais, more famous under the name "Clochemerle", a novel writen in 1934.

To finish, we will drive through the villages of the "Crus" (vintage wines) of the Beaujolais, and stop on top of hills to enjoy stunning panoramas. It is also possible to stop again in wine cellars to taste some of the vintage wines in cellars.

A delightfull day for you. . .

A Recent Review of this tour

This tour was fabulous! Our guide Clemence was very knowledgeable about both the wine/Beaujolais region as well as all things Lyon. She adapted the tour well to suit our needs and made the day feel personalized and special. She seemed genuinely enthusiastic about her work and was happy to be there. Clemence and Jean Jacques (our kind and brilliant wine grower whose vineyard we visited) felt more like friends than guides. Delicious wine and gorgeous sites. 100% recommend!
