Up to seven in a private minibus to explore beyond the city

This fun tour for up to seven people in a private vehicle is a great outing for families or groups of friends who want to experience more of Barcelona.
We will take a trip out of the city to see the mythical Catalan mountain and monastery of Montserrat with its famous Black Madonna, and take in Gaudi's 'other' unfinished church, his mini-masterpiece at the Colonia Guell.
We'll drive for an hour up to the monastery, explore the Basilica and see the Black Madonna. A further option is to take the funicular railway up to the top of the mountain, or visit the excellent museum with paintings by Dalí, Picasso, and Caravaggio (tickets not included).
In the second part of the tour we'll drive on to the little industrial village planned by Gaudi to see the amazing church he designed for the workers in his patron Guell's unique industrial settlement, now part of UNESCO's World Heritage.
We'll stop for lunch either at one the sites or in a country restaurant along the way.

Itinerary

After we meet we'll drive through the city and out into the countryside, along the Llobregat valley towards Montserrat, and I'll explain all about the places we're seeing, and give you as much of the cultural, historical or political background as you want.
At the monastery we'll park and explore the area around the Basilica, check the artisan market, visit inside the church and see the Black Madonna. Then across to the funicular station to buy the tickets for the steep ride up to the top or visit the museum.
We'll have lunch in one of the restaurants or cafes at Montserrat, at the Colonia Guell, or we can stop at a country restaurant in between.
Once we get to the Colonia we'll explore the little settlement to see the houses and school designed by Gaudi for the workers and managers, and finally visit the extraordinary church, one of the architect's World Heritage sites.
Then its back to Barcelona and home.

Jim was very informative and friendly. He was punctual and knew a lot information about Barcelona to include political, economic and social issues affecting the area. We would recommend Jim with no reservations about his service.
