Traditional and cultural highlights
This tour takes you on a ferry across to the biggest island of the Samoa group. Savaii is known for its richness in culture and traditions as well as its natural beauty. You can swim with turtles, visit a traditional family and walk on the lava fields as well as seeing the beautiful beaches on Savaii.
You will be picked up at your Apia hotel or on the way to the wharf at between 6am and 7:30am.
We will then drive to Mulifanua wharf to depart on the 8am ferry for Savaii.
Ferry takes up to 1hour and 20 minutes ride.
Once we arrive at Salelologa wharf, you are given the choice of having breakfast or purchase food on the go.
We will visit a local family where you will watch traditional weaving of fine mats and other traditional commodities. You will also see someone climb a coconut tree to het you fresh coconuts if it does not rain.
We will then visit the lava ruins of 1911 volcano, then you will be taken to rehab facility for green turtles where you can swim with them and feed them. We will then return towards the wharf and stop over at Lano Beach where you can have lunch or just relax and buy a refreshing drink. We will then make our way back towards the ferry where we will be on the 2pm ferry back to Upolu Island.
You will then be dropped off at your hotel in Apia.
Meeting Point + Tour Duration
Meeting Point Options: Hotel, Suggested by Guide: We will meet up in front of Information Center in Apia at 6am if your hotel is situated East of Apia.
End Point Options: Hotel
Duration: 7 hours 30 min.
Tour duration is calculated from time of ferry departure to ferry return but does not include time for pick up and drop off. It takes an hour to drive from Apia to the ferry wharf.
You will be picked up from your resort and driven to the ferry wharf to be on the 8:00am ferry to Savaii. The ferry ride takes approximately 1hour and 20 minutes.
Once we arrive on Savaii, a hired airconditioned vehicle will be used to transport us around to see the sights.
We will be heading back to the wharf to be on the last trip of the more comfortable ferry at 2:00pm.
It should ultimately arrive back on the main island at 3:20pm.
You will then be dropped off at your respective accommodation.
