explanation

English (fluent), Italian (conversational)

Dating back 5,000 years, archeologists still ponder over it's use and significance.

We will visit this important archeological site and then drive into the near-by countryside of Salisbury Plain where we will view quaint villages and take lunch in one of their fine country pubs.
After lunch we will proceed on to Salisbury where we will visit its Cathedral, so important for possessing one of the original copies of the Magna Carta.
The city of Salisbury is famous for its timber-framed buildings. We will wander through this architecture which was studied extensively by such famous architects as Sir Christopher Wren. This is also the city described by Thomas Hardy in his novel 'Jude the Obscure'.

Stonehenge can also be done on its own (4 hours) or combined with different added destinations (8 hours), which would entail a bespoke tour at a different price. Just ask!

Itinerary

We will visit Stonehenge, one of the world's most famous and enigmatic prehistoric monuments. We will examine how the stones may have arrived here and why it was so important to these ancient peoples at the new Visitor's Information centre. We will walk around the stones as they have been placed by the ancients.
We will then continue on to the countryside surrounding the Salisbury Plains and have lunch in a quaint pub before continuing on to Salisbury, as city with Britain's famous cathedral where we will see the Magna Carta, one of the great charters which set out so many of our modern ideas of a democracy. We will walk through the many styles of architecture, especially appreciating the timber-framed Tudor buildings before returning to London.
