Peterhof opening hours: Daily, 10:30am-6pm, closed on Mondays and last Tuesday of the month
St Isaac's Cathedral opening hours: Daily, 10:30am - 5:30pm, closed on Wednesdays
09:00-10:30 - meet your guide and driver at the ship. A scenic drive to Peterhof located on the Gulf of Finland (25km away)
10:30-12:00 - tour of Grand Summer Palace, designed by Rastrelli in the 1750s for Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great
12:00-14:00 - explore the beautiful gardens with its numerous fountains and cascades, "Russian Versailles". Lunch in the park (optional)
14:00-15:30 - drive back to the city (hydrofoil is optional)

15:30-16:30 - tour of St Isaac's Cathedral, the main Russian Orthodox church in St Petersburg before the Revolution of 1917

We took three tours with Alexander (Saint Petersburg walking tour, tour to Pieterhof, and tour of Catherine's Palace). Alex met us on time at the hotel on each occasion. He had arranged tickets for the sites ahead of time and it avoided us having to queue up to buy tickets; of course this came at a premium, which we paid for. Alex was very patient and answered our questions about various exhibits. We travelled on the metro in Saint Petersburg and Alex explained interesting facts about some of the stations
