Follow the footsteps of Amerindians, Explorers, Settlers, and Slaves
St Maarten/ St Martin has a unique and fascinating history. This Dutch and French Caribbean island - the smallest island divided by two nations - has attracted people to her shores for millennia. First as 'The land of Salt' and now as 'The Friendly Island'.
Learn all about St Martin during my half day and informative History Tour.
I'll take you around the entire island while visiting historical landmarks and beautiful viewpoints among which a fort and a former plantation. You'll hear about St Maarten/ St Martin's geological and natural history and her humans: from Amerindians to Explorers, Settlers and Slaves, to our current melting pot.
Outlook point overlooking Great Salt Pond and Philipsburg
Fort Amsterdam or The Old House
Former plantation Emilio Wilson Park
Meeting Point + Tour Duration
Meeting Point Options: Cruise Ship Port, Hotel
Duration: 4 hours
I suggest meeting up to start the tour at 8:30 am (or no later than 9.30 am) so the traffic is still doable and it won't be too hot when we return 4 hours later. If your ship arrives in port at 8 am or earlier this will work fine.
Let me know if your ship is scheduled to arrive later, then I'll adjust the start time accordingly.

Our first Tours By Locals. It was with David B. in Saint Martin. What an awesome experience with David! He drove us around the area, places that a tour bus could not get to - small outlooks, narrow streets, etc. He brought pictures to illustrate his narrative. At one point we went to a museum at which he and his wife do volunteer work. We stopped there for some of David's delicious banana bread and iced tea. The view from that outlook was fantastic. Worth every penny we paid! Book him!!
