Visit the tomb and Shrine of Philadelphia's "Little Bishop" and America's first male to be canonized.
Saint John Neumann's Tomb and Shrine are located in the Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle. Though Saint John never lived at this Parish, he visited here regularly during his time as bishop of Philadelphia since he was also the superior of the Redemptorist mission in America. We will visit his Shrine, tomb and Church and will have ample time for private prayer/reflection as well as a visit to the gift shop.
This tour can be booked as a solo tour or as an add on to the Historic Tour of Philadelphia. In combining this tour with the Historic Tour of Philadelphia, if time permits we can either stop for lunch or continue directly to the Shrine.
This tour can be purchased individually.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: We will meet at the Visitor Center. However, if you book this tour in addition to the Historic Tour, we will continue straight to the Shrine from our last stop on the Historic Tour.
End location: We will return to Old City.
Duration: 2 hours
We will walk from Old City to the Shrine and back. However, since this is an add on tour to the Historic Walking tour, we may be able to take Lyft or Uber. We'd be able to do this if the the number of people on the tour is 5 or less.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
10 USD - The Shrine has an extensive gift shop should you wish to purchase a souvenir or books about St. John Neumann. Medals are $2.00 or less. Books, statues etc are more expensive. Since there are so many items available for purchase, its hard to list a full range of costs.
