I am a professional historian. For some people history consists of books, for me - alive history is Saint-Petersburg. Here each stone speaks of our heritage and background and I would like to translate the language of the city into the language of your hearts.
I have been working as a guide for 12 years I chose this career straight after graduation from the historical department of the University. During the studies I discovered that very often history repeats itself. On different continents and in different centuries people make the same mistake again. In one of the books it is written that the Wisdom is not to know the historical facts but to introduce the historical background into the reality of contemporary life. That is exactly the reason why I decided to become a guide. My profession and the way how I understand it gives me opportunity to tell about the history of Saint-Petersburg and Russia through the lens of everyday life and to derive peculiarities of Russian national character from our rich, troubled, sometimes tragic past. For me history is to understand the present, that is the way how I see it and how I make the tours.
Very often tourists ask me whether I have travelled or not. Of course I love travelling and I have been to many European countries. I believe that you can be a good guide in Saint Petersburg only if you know the context. Russian emperors, political leaders, architects, artists found their inspiration not only in our ancient background but also in rich European heritage. This mixture is what makes Saint-Petersburg unique and that is why I love travelling. I always try to find in different parts of the world things and feelings that are typical for us. Nevertheless after every trip I eagerly come back to Saint-Petersburg and to my job because it is where I belong and it is what makes me happy.
During the tours my main purpose IS NOT TO BE BORING. How do I make it? I am just trying to share with the guests not only my knowledge of Saint Petersburg history but also my passionate love to the spirit of the city!
Hope to see you in Saint Petersburg and I am sure that even in high tourist season we will find some unique sights undiscovered by numerous crowds or alternative angle which will give us opportunity to enjoy more the classical tours!
I just need you to give me chance to be your guide and become your friend in our ineradicable and unpredictable city!
P. S. I can make special tour for you! I just need to know your interests, preferences and dearest wishes!

Olga led us a wonderful tour of the Hermitage which was the highlight of our visit to St. Petersburg. Her deep knowledge of the art and related history provided a perspective that greatly enhanced the visit. Her English is perfect and she is a lovely, friendly guide who provided additional helpful hints on how best to enjoy the city. We would definitely tour with Olga upon return to this lovely city.
My licenses give me an oppotunity to be your guide in such museums as Hermitage, Yusupov palace, Fabergé museum, Russian museum, Catherine palace, Museum of Political History of Russia, Pavlovsk palace, Peterhof, Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood.
I cannot be the guide and driver at the same time. Nevertheless when it is needed I am ready to hire comfortable car with professional driver.
