Gems of Central Dalmatia
Experience the highlights of two UNESCO sites situated only 30 km one from the other. Split nowadays the second largest city in Croatia, the origins of which go all the way back to 305 AD, the year when the Roman emperor Diocletian decided to have his post-abdication residence there. His palace is still extraordinarily well preserved and is one of few remaining Roman palaces colorfully blended with the medieval part of the town.
The neighbor city of Trogir is even older, founded in 3rd century BC by Greek colonists represents one of the most amazing little towns in the Mediterranean. Situated on an islet, surrounded by bridges and canals is a sight to behold. Its romanesque cathedral, gothic and renaissance palaces, imposing fortresses are a must while in Croatia, especially for those who are looking for an authentic local experience.
After we meet, our driver will take us to Trogir where we will walk through the old town, making a stop at the central square with the magnificent St. Lawrence Cathedral and its exceptional sculpted main entrance (Radovan's Portal), then continuing through the colorful narrow medieval streets, we will reach the seaside promenade, where you might enjoy a brief coffee break or choose to do some shopping. Then we will continue to Split where we will visit the following: the area within Diocletian's Palace (Substructures, Cathedral-Diocletian's former mausoleum, Jupiter's Temple, etc. ) and the medieval part of the town (Pjaca Square, etc. ), passing by Split's popular open market known as Pazar.
