See the unique buildings and shops of Soho, while crossing next door to the gastronomic wonder of Chinatown
The SOHO neighborhood is not only a fashionable center of New York, full of galleries and cutting edge shops. It's noteworthy as the largest district of cast iron buildings in the country. It rose up when architectural structure was in between masonry and steel. These loft buildings' classical elements could literally be chosen from catalogs. In the 1960s, as factories departed, artists took over the big open (and at that time, cheap) spaces for living/working studios, and the rest is history. Immediately east of Soho is Chinatown, a large neighborhood of restaurants, noodle shops, exotic food emporia and a bustling demeanor. We'll cross over on Grand Street, past noteworthy buildings from trendy Soho to the heart of Chinese New York, where great food and atmosphere is the primary attraction.
We start at the NE corner of Soho at Broadway and Houston St. We go south to Prince St. and west to the heart of Soho, West Broadway. South to Grand St. and east again, past some of the great Soho landmark buildings. Grand St. is a wonderful , transitional street from Soho to Little Italy to Chinatown, all in the course of 5 blocks. We turn south on Mott St. pass through the heart of Chinatown, ending at Columbus Park on Bayard St.

We had a great tour with Rob. He's knowledgable and articulate and a good guy. He's also very good at sizing up his quests and figuring out what they are most likely to enjoy and then tailoring the tour on the fly to his guests enjoyment. We've hired guides from TBL all over the world and Rob is a first class guide. Thanks for the enjoyable tour Rob!
