Private tour to the 'hidden' historic aqueduct
Your tour for the day is to visit one of the hidden historic landmarks of Skopje - the Roman Aqueduct. The Roman Aqueduct is in a sense the ghost landmark of Skopje. It is used as a symbol of the water supply company, but it has never been readily accessible to the public due to its vicinity to the army barracks.
We will go to the Aqueduct with a taxi and stop not far from it. Then we will walk for about 500m/550yd on a dirt road along the river Serava. And there it will be, a 386m/422yd long, historic beauty.
We will walk around it while I tell you the history of the Aqueduct. Then, we can simply sit somewhere just to enjoy the view in a quiet environment, knowing that we are so close to the city, yet in such a different surrounding. Then after you've taken photos and inspected how the water used to run through it, we can leave.
For photography enthusiasts I recommend to plan to be there at sunset, since the walls of the Aqueduct face West. This is also a great winter tour.

Very interesting place to visit. Not easy to reach/find without help. Ranta Bojan was an excellent guide who gave us not only information about the aqueduct but also about restaurants, other places to visit... We even made a small detour to pass by a small town where only roman people live. A real experience.
