The best way to see Skagway, the Yukon and the South Klondike Highway, my "Office" !
We begin with a tour through downtown Skagway, then, we climb the White Pass (3292' or 1000m). On the way, we'll see beautiful waterfalls, and great scenery.
Past the border is a stunning "moonscape" area, with stunted trees and sharp crags. Next, I treat all to a nice "convenience break" at the Yukon Suspension Bridge. I'll cover the fee.
Further up, we pass Lake Tutshi, with big mountains on both sides, and it is here that we often see Mountain Goats on the peaks. We then come to Lake Tagish, and the Yukon border sign is a popular photo stop.
Further on, the landscape shows evidence of another minerals "rush", on Montana Mountain. Bove Island is another great photo stop. Just after that is the village of Carcross, Yukon Territory, rich in native tradition, with several world class totems, and two nice spots for lunch. Next comes the Carcross Desert, with hundreds of acres of out-of-context dunes .
Our turnaround point is Emerald Lake, and you will see why!
After that, it's back to Skagway!

Thomas was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. He knew Skagaway and beyond in an historical perspective. He has very pleasant personality and all of us liked it very much. We enjoyed spending the day with him. We wish him all the best.
