Full Day. Transportation included.
Freixenet was started after the union of two Spanish families with a lengthy history in winemaking: the Ferrers and the Salas.
Montserrat, the Natural Park is a multi-peaked mountain shaped by the wind and rain and that is where it's name comes from, as it looks like a saw, the serrated mountain.
Almost to the top we find Santa Maria de Montserrat, the monastery, Catalonia's most important religious retreat. Inside the Basilica we can visit the Virgin of Montserrat (the black virgin), is Catalonia's Virgin.
Montserrat is an inspiration for Gaudí that he adapts in Casa Batlló and La Sagrada Familia.
The tour starts at your hotel or apartment from there we will take the car to go to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, known as the city of Cava (sparkling wine). 80% of the production in Spain is done here, where will visit Freixenet cellar, specialized in Cava, includes audiovisual history of the cellar, the cava making, we will be visiting the different cellars by walk and train and cava tasting (two glasses).
On the way to Montserrat, we will have a stop for lunch (local food) on the lower part of the mountain with a great scenery that depicts its name. Finished lunch we will have an outstanding drive through the mountain seeing in a clear day the outline of the Pirineus and the spectacular Montserrat's mountain walls. Once we reach the religious retreat we will walk to visit the Monastery of Montserrat, Basílica and la Moreneta (the black virgin). On the way we will also pass by a flea market with local cheese, honey, fig cake, etc.

Our "Winery Freixenet - Montserrat" tour with Francisco was fabulous. A full day of sightseeing and insight into the region, the history and the people of the region of Barcelona. Francisco promptly emailed photos of our tour capturing all the perfect photo spots. Lunch with the locals in a quaint little eatery on our way to Montserrat was wonderful. Freixnet and Montserrat are certainly worth the tour experience. Highly recommend Francisco for your Barcelona tour experience(s).
