Gassho-Zukuri old farmhouse in Japan
Shirakawago and Gokayama are designated as UNESCO World Hetitage site in 1995. There are 60 Gassho-Zukuri farmhouses and about 40 Gassho-style storages in the village. The shape of big slanted roofs resembles in the gesture of bringing arms and hands together in prayer. This gesture is called Gassho in Japanese. We visit Shiroyama observation point, a typical Gassho farmhouse inside , and stroll the village.

Knowledgeable, polite, and efficient, Takashi did a great job of guiding our family of 3 on a half day tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa go on a rainy day. He speaks excellent English so communication was absolutely no problem. Prompt pre-tour communication. A fax reminder was waiting at the hotel at the check-in. I would definitely use his service again, should we return to this region.
