Shenandoah National Park - Compton Peak Hike
Possums Rest, Fort Windham Rocks, Indian Springs, Compton Gap. . . Sound Intriguing? These are all names of places that can be visited on this wonderful hike. Set along the Appalachian Trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this out-and-back hike has many side-trails that lead to ancient greenstone columns, trickling springs, lichen covered rocks, and additional mountain views.
We can meet at the trailhead, or I can pick you up if you have local accommodations. The distance, time and elevation gain of the hike will depend on which trails are taken, but expect it to be:
6-7 miles long
900-1300 feet of total elevation gain
