Since 1995 I am involved in the tourist business.
I live in Sevastopol (Sebastopol) - one of the most beautiful cities in former Soviet Union (USSR). The city was built as a Russian Naval base and all of its history is connected with the Navy. As a Commander and submariner in the Soviet Navy, I am deeply acquainted with that history. I can share stories and personal anecdotes that go beyond that standard script for those who are interested.
I thrive on challenging guests and spontaneity. I can, of course, responsibly cover all the usual tourist sites in this region. But it is often the case that the unplanned becomes the highlight of the trip -- a small town wedding or community celebration, conversations with a WW II veterans, or time with a local family in their carefully tended garden. I propose to you excursions I have personally developed. But I am also flexible and can change plans according your desire.
I am very much a "glass half full" person. I do best with guests who are demanding, curious and positive. I enjoy laughter and relish conversation that allows us to learn from each other. I greet each day with gratefulness for the endless variety of my work and the opportunity to live in the wonderful city of Sebastopol. If you like to smile - join my company.
Across the years, many guests have become friends. I have been invited to the United States on two occasions and have driven the length and breadth of that county. Along with deepening relationships, it has taught me a lot about what makes a visitor's experience special. I hope to impart those insights during your visit here.
I use a Ford Focus C-max minivan (with air conditioning) for travel in the Crimea.
In June 2012 I was featured on the BBC Travel Program "Fast Tracks. " I'd be happy to send you the link if you're interested in seeing me on camera!
Welcome to Crimea.

A Recent Review of this guide
Alex is an AWESOME guide! He is fun, energetic, and he enjoys people. I knew it was going to be a great day right when we met. You expect a guide to be know their history, but Alex has an EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY and a passion for it that leaps out of him as he describes things and informs you. Spending 20 years on a Russian sub gives him insights and stories other guides would love to hear. His English is great and he is very flexible. I look forward to my next tour with my new friend Alex. Thanks.
Alex has over 10 years of experience in showing visitor the best Crimea has to offer.
