This tour will introduce you into the world of the ancient Venetian Republic, with its paradoxes and its modernity, visiting the most important building of the city, the medieval Doge's palace.
During the first part of the tour we'll visit a part of the Palace usually closed to the public: the terrific medieval prisons, called "pozzi"- that means wells because many times were flooded- where dangerous prisoners were kept, the offices of the Great Chancellor, the man who controlled the secret documents of Venice, the Torture room where a long rope hanging from the ceiling reminds us of the punishments, the Giacomo Casanova' cell (how could he ran away form there?) and the Three Inquisitors room.
The second part will consist in the institutional rooms, the best spot to admire masterpieces of Venetian painting.
We'll see the Armoury, the state's rooms and the dark prisons too! To get to them we'll cross the famous bride of Sighs, discovering why it has this strange name.
