A tiny town with a superb archaeological museum

Driving in Italy between Rome and Venice, and fancying an ancient Roman holiday? Take a pause halfway and stop at Sarsina, a tiny tidy town on a hillside of the River Savio Valley, boasting a superb archaeological museum.
The Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Sarsina is a gem of "minor" Italy, out of the most beaten tourist tracks. Follow me amid luxurious mosaic floors, stunning monumental burials, fine tableware and delicate glass balm bottles, remains of imposing statues of divinities, gracefully carved portraits, moving verses of endless love engraved on burial stones (and much much more). I will accompany you to discover how was life in ancient "Sassina" 2, 000 years ago.
Have a look at the photograph and check the opening times of the museum (here below). I'll meet you at the entrance of Sarsina's Museo Archeologico Nazionale. See you soon.

Itinerary

This tour focuses on the Museo Archeologico Nazionale of Sarsina.
We shall meet at the museum entrance, pay for our admission and start our journey into the Roman age of the early empire. We will first visit the six rooms at ground level, then move upstairs to see the remaining four rooms.
Once finished, if you like, we can briefly stroll around Sarsina's main square (roughly corresponding to the ancient Roman forum) and see the sites where some pieces of the museum were uncovered. We might also pop into Sarsina's medieval Cathedral.
