Times of misfortune
The siege of Sarajevo was one of the longest sieges in the history of modern warfare. The Capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina was under siege by the army of Republica Srpska from April 5th 1992 to February 29th 1996, during the Bosnian war.
The siege was a year longer then the siege of Leningrad in WW2. During this tragic period, 11000 civilians were killed or went missing and about 1500 children were killed.
On the tour, you will visit the most important places from this period and hear the real stories and first-hand testimonies about the dangers of everyday life and survival in a besieged city.

Ahmed who has a degree in history was terrific. Rather than go to the tunnels to see the Seige we went to a museum to see the story and then the old city. The highlight was standing on the corner where Archduke Ferdinand was shot while Ahmed made the whole episode come alive for us .You are lucky if you can get him to be your guide.
