Times of misfortune
The siege of Sarajevo was one of the longest sieges in the history of modern warfare. The Capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina was under siege by the army of Republica Srpska from April 5th 1992 to February 29th 1996, during the Bosnian war.
The siege was a year longer then the siege of Leningrad in WW2. During this tragic period, 11000 civilians were killed or went missing and about 1500 children were killed.
On the tour, you will visit the most important places from this period and hear the real stories and first-hand testimonies about the dangers of everyday life and survival in a besieged city.

We had an excellent tour with Ahmed. First in the old town with a history of the Ottoman Empire then up to check out some beautiful city panoramas before heading to the Tunnel of Hope where Ahmed explained the siege of Sarajevo peppered with personal family stories of his own. Ahmed is obviously passionate about history and his country and we felt so lucky to have him as a guide. Many, many thanks
