Sara Š.

Velika Gorica, Zagrebacka zupanija, Croatia

Hello dear travelers! My name is Sara I have been working as a professional guide for the past 8 years, with a license for Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj regions as well as the Zagreb county and the city of Zagreb.

Originally I am from Opatija, the cradle of Croatian tourism. With both parents in the tourism business, the father also being a guide as well as my aunt who guided tours for over 20 years, I grew up surrounded by service industry and different aspects of tourism. After graduating from college I decided to give it a try - and I loved it! I haven't stopped ever since, going from local excursions to European tours to focusing on ex-Yugoslavian countries and now back to local guiding in order to focus on my family.

With this job I get to meet new wonderful people and to take them on a tour through some of my favorite places, show them not only the history but also what it is to be Croatian - what we love, do, eat, drink, . . . this way I get to provide my travelers with a fresh perspective and maybe you can have a peek of my world through my eyes. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to live in the United States for a year (in Louisiana and Mississippi), so I could give some personal comparison between living and studying in those two similar yet different parts of the world.

Guiding small groups is my favorite. This way it is not just another guided tour of the main sights, but it can be focused more on the interest of my travelers, become more personal and the benefits are that much bigger. With small groups, we can discover off the beaten paths, go behind the evident, walk through the market and explore food, taste, and smell, discover local crafts and much more which you wouldn't be able to do with a larger group. Also, everyone's interests are different, and having a smaller group gives us the opportunity to focus on the traveler's interest so it becomes more interesting and personal.
