Hiking part of the St James's Trail with outdoor lunch
Don't miss out on the perfect opportunity to combine walking a part of the St. James's Trail, Camino de Santiago, with visiting the picturesque fishing village of San Juan.
Walking in the mountains is one of the most popular weekend activities in the Basque Country and this is how the Basques themselves prefer to enjoy their beautiful landscape, a bit of trekking in the mountains to work up an appetite for a hearty meal.
We start out in San Sebastián following the beginner-friendly walking trails along the coastline over Ulia Mountain before coming down into the village of San Pedro. We then take the boat over to San Juan on the other side of the harbor. A short walk through small alleys past the old fishermen's houses takes us out to the harbor entrance where we enjoy a lunch of grilled fish on a terrace with stunning ocean views
A nice little outing if you want to experience a bit of trekking that doesn't require too much physical exertion.
A two and a half hour walk following the scenic coastal trail down to San Juan where we have lunch or dinner before catching the bus back to San Sebastián.
