San Cristobal de las Casas, or Royal City (Ciudad Real) as it was called in the XVI century, is considered to be the cultural capital of Chiapas. The city of wonderful ambience where numerous indigenous tribes are found side by side with European descendants and dozens of small local-run cafes and clubs with live music can offer variety of cuisines from all over the world with the best Mexican coffee and chocolate. The colonial spirit of San Cristobal is still alive with plenty of nicely decorated cathedrals, cute cobblestone streets and unique museums which can tell a lot about the life of modern Mayas.
During this tour you'll get to know the main walking streets and the best viewpoints of the city, learn about the culture and traditions of Chiapas and its inhabitants in Museums of Textiles, Amber, and Mayan Medcine, visit local and souvenir markets and discover the best places for food and for fun.
During walking tour we'll visit:
- Main walking streets: Real de Guadalupe, Miguel Hidalgo, 16 de Septiembre.
- Museums: Textiles, Mayan Medicine, Amber.
- Churches and Cathedrals: Santo Domingo, Virgen de Guadalupe, San Cristobal, San Francisco, La Merced.
- Viewpoints on Guadalupe and San Cristobal hills.
- Markets: local food market and souvenir/art market
Also we can taste delicious coffee, chocolate, mezcal and posh (local indigenous liquor).
