A nice area of Venice revealed
This is a good introduction tour on the right side of the Grand Canal including the districts of San Polo and Dorsoduro.
The first one includes the Rialto market area and confined section of alleys, the large campo san Polo second widest in town passing by the large Franciscan church and the lavish building of the school of San Rocco.
After entering Dorsoduro we'll walk by the main university buildings, the large campo Sta Margherita and enter the gardens and ground floor of the Rezzonico palace (closed on Tuesday). Proceeding ahead will reach the widest canal called Giudecca to continue later in a very secluded section and on Peggy Guggenheim house.
Further ahead there is the imposing church of La Salute just before ending at the merging point of the two larger canals where you can enjoy the most panoramic view on St. Mark's water basin.
After meeting your guide in the heart of the Rialto market area the walk will proceed in the san Polo district until reaching the huge Frari Franciscan church and visit the building inside. Main features will be world class masterpieces such as the altarpiecesof Titian and Bellini.
Shortly after will enter Dorsoduro crossing the large campo santa Margherita, the smaller campo san Barnaba and view the ground floor and gardens of the Rezzonico Palace (except Tuesdays).
The walk will continue passing by the Accademia painting gallery until reaching the very ornate church of La Salute. The walk will end at the extreme end of the district where the two large canals merge, there you'll enjoy a breathtaking vew of san Marco water basin.
NOTICE: This tour can be modified by including the visit indoor of either the fransciscan Church or the Rezzonico palace. If so the walking part of the tour will be less far reaching.

Fernando did a great job, giving us wonderful insider information about the neighborhoods of Dorsoduro and San Polo! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, and even though 2 of the 4 of us had been to Venice before, we learned a lot from him. I have no hesitation in highly recommending him--I would use him again myself!
