This tour will let you discover the strong influence of the African culture on the local culture of Bahia and the city of Salvador, the most African capital of Brazil, where 85% of the pelople are African descendant.

We visit the House of Yemanja, the Dique de Tororó, with its majestic big statues of the most important African gods and the São Joaquim market, that will serve as an introduction to the African religion, called Candomblé, and its roots.
A visit to one of the most famous "terreiros" of Candomblé, sacred place where followers organize their ceremonies, can also be included (on prior consultation).
We cannot miss a visit of the Historic Center, also called Pelourinho (Whipping Post in English!), with a special focus on the most African details and places.
There will be time for a delicious and typical lunch, such as the "feijoada", the famous Brazilian beans stew, in a real local restaurant.
We visit the House of Yemanja in the neighborhood of Rio Vermelho, where fishermen worship their Goddess of the Sea. We visit the Dique de Tororó, a dam with reservoir, with its majestic big statues of the most important "Orixás", the most common name given to the African gods, that will serve as an introduction to the Candomblé and its roots.
A visit to one of the most famous "terreiros" of Candomblé, sacred place where followers organize their ceremonies, can also be included.
We visit the Church of Bonfim, the most famous catholic temple of Salvador, but at the same time adored by the adepts of Candomblé through the syncretism!
We cannot miss a visit of the Historic Center with places like the Church of the Slaves (Our Lady of the Rosary), the Museum of Gastronomy, the Afro-Brazilian Museum, the gallery of Pierre Verger, amongst others.
