I've been in Thessaloniki for the last eleven years. I'm not much of a tourist myself -- I tend to stay put wherever I go -- but I love to share the history, culture and food & drink of my adopted city.
I love reading history, so I know the history of this city and of its connections to the Balkans and Near & Middle East. In fact I have a master's degree in the latter, and can explain to you a lot of the history, politics, economics and culture of the eastern Mediterranean. But I will only discuss these subjects to the degree that you want to. It's more important for you to enjoy your brief time in the city.
In my free time I enjoy cycling, reading, swimming in the sea and have been known to occasionally drop a fishing line in the sea. My favorite things to do in Thessaloniki are walking or biking around the city and eating in cafes, tavernas and restaurants.

Kevin has a lot of knowledge and he enjoys sharing it. Yet, he doesn't overloads you. The places we went to were not only touristic but places in town, which reflect life in the city, in the past and present. Very enjoyable and interesting.
