Enjoy the different wonders of the medieval town and marvellous vineyards for half-a-day
Saint-Emilion is worth visiting for both the unspoilt charm of its medieval town and its enchanting vineyards and wines.
First start with the walking tour along the narrow streets, in the old medieval cloisters and churches, looking for the tracks of the pilgrims.
Then explore the undergroud monuments, their fascinating architecture and their unveiled secrets.
Finally take the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of the local sparkling wine called Crémant de Bordeaux while relaxing in the former Franciscan monastery. The famous "macarons de Saint-Emilion" (local macaroon cakes which authentic receipe from the nones is secretly kept) match perfectly with the sparkling wine. Why don't you try ?
A complete experience with your five senses!
Please note that if you'd rather visit a winery than taste sparkling wine and macarons, I can arrange instead a visit and tasting in a family winery. No transportation is nevertheless included. We can arrange a tuk-tuk or taxi transportation if you do not have a car on spot.
Saint-Emilion is located on the slope of a limestone rock. One part of the village is flat, one part is very steep. Every street and square is paved with cobble-stone so that the floor is uneven. Be sure you wear good walking shoes to enjoy the whole itinerary (may be shortend according to your condition).
Starting from the best point of view we walk from Church, the Maison du Vin, the King's Tower promontory, the former public washing foutain, without missing the typical streets "tertres" and "escalettes". I then guide you through the Underground Monuments dealing with the origins of the village in the 8th Century! (about 45 minutes, not always available in high season).
We complete the tour with a tasting of local sparkling wine "Crémant de Bordeaux" and local macaroon cakes in the fabulous former Franciscan cloister.
Its' an ideal way to relax!
Option : visit and tasting in a family runned wine estate (no extra cost). Transportation not provided I can arrange for a taxi or a tuk-tuk from town to winery.

My friends and I thank Isabelle for a memorable tour of the beautiful village of Saint Emilion. Isabelle is very knowledgeable about the history and cultural aspects of the village and its buildings. Thanks to Isabelle, we also walked through some beautiful spots in the village. Special thanks to Isabelle for picking us up from the train station, arranging for a limo to Bordeaux on short notice, and making a lunch reservation for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
