Explore and visit the oldest civilization in the Americas - A unique UNESCO World Heritage site near Lima
The sacred city of CARAL is located at about 182 kilometers ( 114 miles ) north of the city of Lima but still in the Lima state, province of Supe.
Nowadays it is considered the oldest city and civilization in the Americas only compared to the age of civilizations like China, Egypt, India or Mesopotamia. Caral was built at 26 km ( 17 miles ) from the Pacific Ocean at around 350 m. a. s. l ( meters above the sea level ) or 1 150 feet in a unique place where mountains and valleys get together.
It takes around 3 hours and a half to get there by car from hotels in Miraflores, San Isidro or the historic center and on the way to Caral we will be contemplating an unusual scenery that visitors to Peru usually don't connect the country with, the Peruvian coastal desert.
Explore this amazing site and its 06 different flat-topped mud pyramids and admire the beautiful Supe-river valley where the people during the Caral era got all their crops from.
Pick-up from hotels is at 07. 30 am.
Drive to Caral takes between 3 to 3 hours and a half.
