Fabulous tour! Irina took me to Fedoskino village, a tiny town outside Moscow, one of the 4 Russian towns where lacquered boxes are made and decorated. Irina arranged for me to visit the factory to see how the boxes are constructed, and to observe and speak with some of the artists. We also visited the private gallery of Nadia Strelkina, who was trained at Fedoskino and is well known outside Russia as a painter of fantasy. This tour is a must for anyone interested in this uniquely Russian art.
