Half day private walking tour - Exploring the medieval streets of Rouen
This is a half day walking tour of Rouen, which still retains it's medieval centre and many historically important buildings. We will visit Notre-Dame Cathedral which stands on the spot where a church has existed since the 4th century. We will then explore the medieval streets of Rouen and see the Old Law Courts/Normandy Parliament Building, the large Renaissance clock (Gros Horloge), the tower where Joan of Arc was imprisoned and Place Jean D'Arc where she was burnt at the stake. From here we return to your start point.
The tour price quoted is for a group of up to 6 people, but more can take the tour if transport is not required. If you are arriving by cruise ship in Le Havre or Honfleur, I can pick you up from the cruise terminal but you will need to book this as a full day tour to cover transport costs and increased travel time. Please contact me to obtain the full day tour pricing.
09:30 I will meet you at an agreed start point in Rouen by prior arrangement, which can be Rouen Station if you are coming from Le Havre or Paris (the start time is flexible). We then commence our tour by visiting the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, before a quick coffee break in one of the many cafés. Our circular walk takes us through the old centre of the city, passing the church of St Maclou, the old charnel house of St Maclou, the Palais de Justice and numerous other medieval streets and buildings. Reaching Place Jean D'Arc we will see the memorial cross and the church of St Joan of Arc (opening times permitting). Finally we return via the Renaissance Gros Horloge (Big Clock) to the agreed start point for approximately 13:30.
Rouen has excellent shopping and you may like to extend your visit into the afternoon to take advantage of this!

I felt very comfortable with Andy. He is a very knowledgeable guide, very patient and calm, and an expert driver of a lovely van. He certainly knows Rouen, where we toured for a full day, and I enjoyed his company while learning about the very interesting history of what I was seeing. He also enjoys a good meal, and our lunch was at a very nice restaurant with good French food. Andy doesn't mind waiting for this guests if they wish to shop during the tour.
