The early Christian Basilicas
The tour is a fantastic journey to discover how much the history of Rome is related to the history of Christianity. We'll start the tour from the basilica of St. Paul outside the wall the place where St. Paul is buried since the 1st century A. C. Then we'll move by metro or taxi to St. John in lateran wich is the cathedral of Rome built by the emperor Costantine in the 4th century after Christ. We'll have the chance to see also the Holy stairs wich is one of the most important relics of Rome; after that we'll move(walking or metro) to St. Mary Major, one of the 4 main basilicas of Rome the first one dedicated to the Virgin Mary and built in the 5th century after Christ. The basilica of St. Mary keeps inside some of the oldest mosaics in Rome dating back to the 5th century A. C.

We had done the usual tour of Rome. Our interests focused on religion/culture/history. A one-on-one specially designed tour of the four most important Roman Catholic churches in Rome after the Vatican met our highest expectations. Ennio was our guide. He had a real passion for these sites and deep knowledge of the history/art/ and symbolism. His English if excellent.
