walking tour of the archaeological area with Marisa
I'm an archaeologist and historian: that's why the complex of the Roman Forum/Palatine HIll is my favourite part of the city.
Here you can enter and enjoy a relaxing morning, strolling around the ruins, and you'll be happy to avoid the crowd of tourists (mainly interested in the Colosseum).
I've spent years digging in the Roman Forum, and now I'd like to share my love and knowledge with you, for a lovely walk accross the area.
I suggest this tour if you want to enjoy this area at 100%, visiting the most important shrines of the Forum and the Palatine HIll without rush or long lines.
The Colosseum is NOT included in the tour, but since the ticket is valid 2 days, you can use the combo ticket to visit the amphitheater by yourself another day or in the afternoon.
TIPS for a perfect visit:
- Only small backpacks or handbags allowed
- Wear comfortably shoes (uneven and dusty floors)
- Bring a bottle of water (you can refill it during the tour)
- Be aware of the heat (95F° with high humidity in June/July)
Before we start, I'll give you a brief introduction to Roman History and its main phases.
- the Roman Forum
- The Palace of Emperors on Palatine Hill
- The Museum of the Palatine HIll
NEW SECURITY RULES (Starting from January 2015)
**Please note that inside sites big backpacks ARE NOT ALLOWED. Since there are no storage facilities, you'll be just stopped at the gate by the security, missing the visit**
