From the classic and unmissable sights such as: Christ the Redeemer Statue & Sugar Loaf cable car; Copacabana & Ipanema beaches; Tijuca National Park and further beaches in the Rio coast, which even locals "cariocas", praise as the best.
Rio is a rich city in many aspects. From the historic and cultural side, being the only European capital in the Americas during the XIX century to the still nowadays lush nature, the contrast of beaches and rainforest, well-to-do & poverty areas makes an unique coast line with marvelous local people, whom have gotten "swag", the cariocas.
I want to be the "tool" that will fill up your trip, making it unforgettable.
We can take you to the "Classic Rio", checking out the places you must see once you come to Rio. Or simply, take you around to "Discover Rio", going through the hidden treasures of the city.
It's more than a pleasure to dive deep in Brazil's culture sharing my day and a bit of my point of view, a person whom tries to take the most of living.
After some years working as a guide in Rio, I found myself limited providing tours through the agencies in town. So, I decided that it would be the best way to work on it.
I am a professional with 15 years experienced in customer service, graduated as Executive in Tourism and Hotel Business, and Touristic Guide certificated by the Ministry of Tourism. I started working as salesman once I was 17 years old, once I was 23, I spent three years working at duty-free shops on board a cruise ship. Cruising through the seas after summer, I got to see 32 countries and 52 cities. I was lucky, cause even working almost every day, it was a shop tax-free, so, it was not allowed to have any transaction while docked. This means free time to go and explore a bit of the cities.
In 2010, a got back home and decided to work full time as a tour guide.
Out of work, I enjoy myself a lot. I like to ride my bike by the coast, run by the beach, hike by the forest, go refresh myself by the water falls, and at last but no less important, I really enjoy surfing. Spending time with my family, especially my 2 years old niece and my girlfriend are an every day activity, if possible.
I love my city, really enjoy to be here, to learn more and more about my place and be able to share with visitors some knowledgeable information. Once said by a person raised in the place and sculpted by the world citizen's love, it may have some credit.
I have a few messages from guests, saying things like:
"João is personable, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He was also funny and entertaining, which is an added bonus to me!"
"He was recommended to me by someone else who visited before me and said they had a great experience. He was on time, professional, personable and attentive to my needs. I did not have much time to see the area so he made sure to make a custom tour for me to make sure that I got to see what I wanted to see. He took me to a great place to eat (authentic, as I wished) not where most of the tourists go but to a local place. He made sure I was safe, as I was alone and am a female. He was fun, lighthearted, and on top of it all, he took me to the airport at the end our our day (since I was really pressed for time). He knew all the answers to my questions about the city, geography, history and general customs. His personality is perfect for what he chose as a career. He was definitely the best guide ever and I always recommend him to anyone that is traveling there. "
So, let me host you in my city and hear how was it afterwards.
I will do my best to optimize your day, making it a unforgettable experience!!
Sincerely, be my guest!
A Recent Review of this guide
I had 5 days in Rio and had delayed visiting the Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer due to other interests and weather. However I did not want to leave without this tour and am so glad I had Joao as my guide! He is very knowledgable of the history and life in Rio and is such an engaging and energetic personality, so fun to be with. He is widely travelled himself and an experienced guide. Thank you, Joao for a fun filled day!
