In fact, I am so addicted to the streets of Rio that when I am not walking and guiding through them, I am running, following my other passion - Sports. So it should come as no surprise that I even met my husband when I was out on a run. One of my lifelong highlights was being able to help during the Olympics as a volunteer. In fact, that was the best experience I have had in my life and helped me deciding to quit my former job at the Financial Market and start my studies to become a Tour Guide.
For almost 20 years I have worked as an investment analyst for banks and pension funds, but life at the office was no longer making me happy. During the Olympics, in 2016, I had the chance to be in touch with foreigners from all over the world and realized that I had a special gift. Communication and Leadership, Gentleness and English Fluency, Passion for my City and Brazilian History, it all led me to follow my new path. Well, here am I! I have been guidind for a year now and it seems I will be doing it forever! I really love being around with visitors, showing them how beautiful and interesting Rio is. My tours will always have a historical touch and I will always try to make the costumers very happy and satisfied with the secret places and gems of Rio.
A Recent Review of this guide
Although we had only a short cruise stop in Rio, Rafaela gave us an impressively immersive introduction to the city, including visits to the Christ the Redeemer statue and the scenic top of Sugarloaf mountain. With excellent English, warm personality and attentiveness to our comfort and our interests, she wove a fascinating tapestry of the city's history, culture, economy and even its music. Her driver, Giovanni, also deserves 5 stars.
