Public transportation (train): Visits inside Kronborg ('Castle of Hamlet') and Frederiksborg with a private guide
On this tour we will visit inside the two large renaissance castles of North Zealand. Kronborg at city Helsinore, located where the Sound between Denmark and Sweden is most narrow. Kronborg is known as the 'Castle of Hamlet', as William Shakespeare was inspired by stories of the castle and the court of Danish king Frederik II and used it in his famous play 'Hamlet'. For more than 400 years (1429-1857) the Danish kings used Kronborg to control the Sound, collecting the Sound Dues from the ships passing by. Kronborg is part of UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Frederiksborg is the largest renaissance castle in northern Europe and is beautifully situated on three small islands in the lake by the city Hilleroed. The great Danish renaissance king Christian IV was born in Frederiksborg in 1577.
