Historic Overview and Happy Hour in the Historic District
This 4-hour activity includes a 3-hour walking tour plus a 1-hour "happy wrap-up" in an Old Quebec private residence, and is meant as a prelude to a lunch or dinner that you may have after we have completed our tour.
First, I meet you at your hotel to start the walking tour, that you pick from my 3-hour "Walking Tour of Old Quebec" selection (History & Architecture or History of French America). Please refer to these specific tours for more details.
At the end of the tour, we go to my 1845 residence within the walls of Old Quebec for a 1-hour wrap-up with aperitif of your choice and a treat!
Old Québec is a small district with high density of historic sites! During this 4-hour activity, we walk by these must-see sites, a total walking distance of less than 2 miles (3 km):
- Old Port district and St. Lawrence River
- Place Royale and Petit-Champlain districts
- Place d'Armes, Château Frontenac and Dufferin boardwalk
- Monasteries of the Ursulines
- Notre-Dame-de-Québec Cathedral and Old Seminary
- Citadelle and Fortifications
- Parliament of the Province of Québec
- Plains of Abraham, the Battlefields Park
Either in summer or winter, along our way we have access to public toilets and buildings, to rest, to cool off or to warm up.
The circuit will vary upon the meeting point, which is typically
- your hotel in lower or upper town Old Québec (also known as the historic district)
- the cruise ship terminal on Dalhousie Street in lower town.
Meeting Point + Tour Duration
Meeting Point Options: Cruise Ship Port, Hotel, Suggested by Guide: I meet you at your hotel if located in or near the historic district. If ship docks at a different pier, we suggest the guests to take a cab (or available shuttles if any) and meet at Musée de la civilisation or ferry terminal in lower town (both also on Dalhousie Street).
End Point Options: Cruise Ship Port, Suggested by Guide: The tour is not a loop and ends near Kent gate, located at D'Auteuil St. and Dauphine St. intersection.
